My Holiday In Perranporth, Cornwall (2008)
The first time I ever went to Perranporth was with my dad, brother and sister when I was about 14. In November 2007, I returned with my new boyfriend, Myke, who also loved the little town.
In September 2008, we returned, this time for two weeks. :)
While I was there, I took a notebook with me and kept a paper log of what we got up to while away.
Dates are in dd/mm/yyyy format.

Woke up this morning at 9am...after having just 5 hours of sleep. :(
Yesterday, I finished packing (put Lappy and Montgomery II away in my backpack) and watched TV until Myke's mum phoned to say she was about to pick me up.
She picked me up and off we went to Myke's house. Had lunch (cheese and coleslaw sandwich, if you must know) and then we all (Hazel, George, Myke and myself) squeezed ourselves into the car and off to Perranporth we went!
Currently, I'm in my new home for the next eleven days. I've been waiting for the rain to stop so I can take some photos of the exterior of the caravan! (Don't want to get Montgomery II wet!)

I've been up since 8am. It was freezing last night and it's still cold now. :( The little heater is on in the living area, where I am at the moment, but it's still really cold.
Myke moaned because I woke him up in the night by touching him...before his mummy or anyone else reads that and freaks out, I was trying to steal his warm IN MY SLEEP because I was SO COLD.
I tried out the shower. Lol. I turned it on and it looked like it had a good amount of power, then the water started to trickle rather than spray out... Pissed off, I turned off the shower and sulked behind the heater for a little bit.
I just tried it again and it's actually one of those tap extension things - not a proper shower - so it's supposed to be like that, I guess. :(
The shower wasn't actually too bad, once I got in it - a bit small and cramped in there but it'll do. :P
Myke's still asleep and I'm bored. I keep trying to make subtle noises - so it wakes him up but also so he doesn't think it's on purpose and yell at me, lol. He's doing a great job of ignoring me though. :(
Later: convinced Myke to let me loose on the town centre! Woo, shopping! Bought my first pair of flip flops since I was a kid. They're really awesome, shame they cost £20, though...
04/09/2008 - 8:07pm
Yesterday, Myke went to a shop called Hard Drive, which is a joke shop and internet cafe. He took Lappy with him and spent half an hour on the internet (times were cheap: 15mins = £2, 30mins = £3 and 120mins = £8!).
I chose not to use the internet at all myself; I wanted a break from all 'net stuff. :P
While Myke was playing with Lappy, I went shopping again and came back with just a watch (I couldn't wear the one I'd brought with me because I was allergic to the back of it). It's a cute white and lime green one by Kahuna and cost £35! When the battery goes, I'll replace the battery instead of the watch, which is what I normally do. :P
We met up again and went to see Whitey at the duck pond. At first, we couldn't see him, so I thought he'd died or gone away and started feeling kind of sad. Then, as we were walking around, Myke spotted a white blob on the island in the middle of the pond - the white blob was Whitey sleeping!
Today, we revisited the duck pond, with the intention of feeding the ducks with the mountain of bread we brought down. I took some (okay, lots of) photographs of the ducks and the swans. The two swans we saw last year must have decided to breed, as there were two swans and five cygnets. :)
Couldn't feed the ducks though - there were loads of people there already, with their own mountains of bread to feed the ducks and swans with. :( Feeling somewhat dejected, we decided to mosey around the town centre and wait for all the people to bugger off.
After some browsing, we returned to the duck pond. Thankfully, most of the people had buggered off by this time, so we started trying to feed the ducks...
I say trying because the seagulls kind of got in the way. At one point, I threw a chunk of bread to Whitey and a bunch of seagulls bomb dived him to get the bread. I didn't know ducks could move that fast.

Was woken up a few times last night; the wind and the rain was so heavy and made so much noise, I thought the windows were going to cave in and the caravan would fall over!
Later, we visited Whitey again and I took even more photographs of him and the other ducks (and swans!). :P
After that, we got a hot chocolate and made our way back to the caravan.
We watched the news yesterday and the weatherman said that we (England) should expect to get about two weeks worth of rain in 24 hours. Perranporth was okay though; we had a lovely, clear evening. We decided to take advantage of the clear sky and ran down to the beach to take some sunset photos but after 10 minutes, I was so cold, we had to head back home. I did manage to get some nice photographs, though! :)
Before we went to bed, Myke told me how, the night before, I kept pushing him off the bed in my sleep. The third time I did it, he pushed me back. I made some sort of grunty noise and he said "How do you like that?!" and in response, I snored loudly in his ear. Hahaha!
07/09/2008 - 7:07pm
Myke's parents, Hazel and George, came down to visit us today. We all had a cup of tea (with crumpets and scones with butter and strawberry jam, of course. Oh and we totally held up our little pinkie finger while daintily sipping our tea...) then went off to Newquay, which is about 8 miles from Perranporth. (And the surfing capital of England!)
Unfortunately, we arrived around 15 minutes before all the shops started to close, so we didn't get to look around the shops much.
I did, however, manage to get my brother and sister a little present each: a Nightmare Before Christmas purse for my sister and a Golliwog doll^ for my brother (who, as much as I love him, is a racist git).
Before heading back "home", Myke's mum and dad treated us both to a pastie and hot chocolate and we sat overlooking one of Newquay's beaches while we ate.
08/09/2008 - 5:30pm
Went to Newquay again; while I bought Tay's purse yesterday, I saw something else I thought she'd like (but I can't make public yet). I spoke to mum about it last night and she said that I should get it for Tay for her 18th birthday.
When we first arrived, we had a look around the shops and I found another something else which I thought she'd like for her birthday...which I then bought.
As well as buying that something I returned to Newquay to buy, I also bought a Golliwog doll keyring^ for my step-dad (who, like my brother, is racist). I bought myself a personalised hoodie. :P
Myke bought stuff while he was there too: a cute salt & pepper set, of two figures hugging. :)
We tried to win me some teddies on grabbing machines. Spent far too much money and ended up with no teddies. :( I especially wanted this too cute teddy of a wolf with a collar and lead but it wasn't meant to be...
09/08/2008 - 12/09/2008
Have spent the last few days shopping for random cool clutter things to take back home and for souvenirs to give to our immediate family members.
On Thursday (11/09/2008), Myke made me walk the half a mile to the town centre and then another half a mile across the beach, to get to the hills on the other side (towards Perran Sands), to take advantage of the second beautiful sunset while we were there. I got some pretty good photographs out of it and, despite moaning the whole time that he was making me walk SO FAR, I enjoyed it. :)
Friday (12/09/2008) was spent packing everything away again (I ended up with four shopping bags of stuff, plus the suitcase, holdall and backpack I'd taken with me) and cleaning up the caravan. We wanted it to look like we hadn't been there for the past eleven days and I think we did a good job.
Between 1pm and 4pm, I was left alone in the caravan to clean and pack, while Myke went for a long walk. (It was actually my idea!)
As he was leaving, I said - jokingly - he should bring me back a hot chocolate and a portion of chips and some onion rings from the fish and chip shop. When he finally returned, he brought with him a hot chocolate and the dinner I wanted! Aww! :D
Hazel and George came to take us home some time between 7pm and 8pm. I got back home some time between 9pm and 9:30pm and was immediately jumped on by my sister.
I gave Josh his souvenirs; the Golliwog doll and a little African drum I found in a shop called Sama Sama. He loved them and keeps showing them off to his friends, whenever he can drag one around. -_-
Tay got her purse, a white dreamcatcher (from Sama Sama) and a little skull pendant with pink diamante things on and a black chain.
I sat around until almost midnight, waiting for my mum and Pete (my step-dad) to come home, so I could give them their presents. They finally showed up just as I was about to give up and go to bed.
I got Pete the Golliwog keyring (which I think he liked), a little wooden whistle (from Sama Sama - he can now form a band with my brother) and a lighter with "Cornwall" written on it.
For my mum, I bought her two pairs of sparkly & girly flip flops and two little monkey fluffy things (they have little magnets in their hands and feet and can "hold hands", which is really cute!).
They all loved their presents and I had a fantastic time in Perranporth. I can't wait until next year to go back!
If you'd like to see all of the photographs I took and have decided to show off on Flickr^, just visit my Perranporth 2008 set^. :)
